We have a new chairman of the Chesterfield and District Civic Society – Howard Borrell.

Howard will be well-known to many. He was a Chesterfield borough councillor until earlier this year, where he took a particular interest in planning and town centre regeneration issues. Howard will certainly be well-known to fans of Chesterfield Football club; he’s a life long supporter and also, for the last 36 years, the match day announcer.

Our former Chairman – Philip Riden – has stepped aside. We would like to thank him for his work at the Civic Society where he has revitalised the society, our blue plaque scheme and helped raise our profile.

It’s business as usual for the society – as we continue to develop our work in promoting improvements in the civic life and environment of Chesterfield and district.
